Target audience

This course is designed for those who need to create more complex documents in Microsoft Word. Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to create, edit and format new and existing documents, apply bullets and numbering, apply borders and shading, create a mail merge, insert headers and footers and use AutoText and Quickparts.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Produce documents effectively using time saving formatting techniques such as default fonts and paragraph spacing
  • Add borders and shading to text and tables to highlight information or create title pages
  • Present effective summary information using bullets
  • Include complex numbered lists such as contract clauses
  • Present information in tabular format such as names and phone extensions, price lists, stock availability or public holiday listings
  • Use timesaving techniques such as Auto Text to insert frequently used text such as company name, job titles or standard phrases
  • Use Mail Merge techniques to produce bulk mailouts for such things as advertising flyers, invitations, tax invoices etc
  • Use Find and Replace to search and replace text such as company or department name changes
  • Add Headers and Footers to pages which contain repetitive information such as organisation name, chapter titles, page numbers or file locations
